It's not up to you or me to make sure others are nice. It's up to you and me to make sure our own personal behavior reflects what we say we believe.
Talking (what we say) is part of 'walking the walk.' The very first verse I ever remember my mom having me memorize was Ephesians 4:29 'Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.' KJV
As Christians we are required to only say things that 'minister grace unto the hearers.' I'm speaking to myself mostly. Side note: please don't ever think that this blog is a 'preachy preachy, I'm better than you' soap box. I deal with self loathing every hour and have to remind myself that 'there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ,' every time the loathing starts.
If we claim to be followers of Christ, what we say to unbelievers is what they think Christ would say to them if He were to walk up to them on the street or at Arby's. I'm preaching to myself as well; I ask God in almost every prayer I pray to 'hold me, and to keep me from myself,' meaning: keep me from the desires of my sinful nature. I can in no way, form, or fashion do it on my own. Left to myself I'm mean, condescending, selfish, judgmental, prideful, etc. Just ask my husband. BUT....with the help of the Holy Ghost (hallelujerrr) I am a much improved version of me. That being said...
Let's help each other
This is all meant for Christians. Don't go bashing someone over the head with this blog if they don't believe in Christ. I learned a while back that if I am the one reading or listening to a sermon, not to think the whole time 'oh, so-and-so really needs to hear this message.' We miss the whole point if we're constantly thinking that we don't need to hear what's being said for our own growth.
I love you all, thank you once again for taking the time to read this blog. I truly appreciate it.
Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
